Some Sad News

My sister Crystal called this morning, and she told me her husband's mother had a massive heart attack last night. Her heart stopped twice and she was resucitated both times, but is now in ICU on life support. Shawn is on his way now to Wisconsin to be with her and his two younger brothers. We are all trying to be hopeful, but it's hard to think positive when the doctors have given her a 5% chance of survival. Faith suffers from emphysema and it has been weakening her for a few years now.

Grandma Faith has visited Florida several times over the last few years, and she's a sweet woman that seemed to love Emily just as much as her actual grandchildren! She loved when I sent her pictures and she sends Emily Christmas gifts every year. I'm glad I got a chance to send her a picture of Madilynn as well. It has been a couple of years since I have seen Grandma Faith, since the last time Crystal's family saw her was when they flew to Wisconsin for Christmas in 2007. I'm so glad that her family was finally able to fly to visit her, see where she lived and where Shawn grew up, and all the kids got to see snow for the very first time. I imagine that Christmas was the best they've ever had!

My heart just aches for their whole family, but especially for Shawn, because I know he must be just crumbling inside. At this point, I think we are all praying for her peace but hoping for a miracle at the same time!
