Emily's MRI Results

I spoke to Emily's doctor today and her MRI results did not show any underlying reason she is banging her head, or a specific reason for the sleep apnea. It also did not show any damage to her skull from hitting her head (the doctors were not looking for this, but I was). It did show two things: One, she has chronic sinusitis, which in the past has been treated with a 30 day round of antibiotics. We've done this several times already, and I'm concerned that if we continue, the antibiotics won't work when she REALLY needs them. So I've called the ENT and left a message with the nurse to find out how they want to proceed. She may not want to do anything this time. The second thing the MRI showed was that the excess fluid in Emily's head ventricles has decreased! I did not know this was possible! She still has an abnormal amount of fluid, but now it's considered "minimal" instead of "mild." Dr. P said this is probably a result of her brain growing and that it's definitely a good thing. So that was great news! For Austin and I overall, the results of the MRI were great since they didn't find anything worrisome--but at the same time, we sometimes wish they would find something so we could have a reason, something to focus on fixing!

On a side note, I had my post-natal check up yesterday and Dr. B said I recovered well! This recovery was much less painful and difficult than after I had Emily. Which is good, because this time I have two little ones to take care of! The nurse was teasing me about taking off my flip flops before I got on the scale, since it wouldn't have made much of a difference! She just laughed and rolled her eyes when she said "You weighed 116 on the date of delivery and you weigh 98 pounds 5 weeks later. You're 4 pounds from your starting weight--I guess you don't really need the green light to start exercising!" :) Madilynn was on my chest during my exam, and the doctor was quite impressed with how she kept picking her head up and looking around the room! Her eyes were full of wonder!
