A Good Problem to Have!

Emily is registered with the Agency for Persons with Disabilties Medwaiver program. They provide funding for services like therapy and medical supplies that Medicaid won't pay for. She's been on the waiting list for two years now, and she's not expected to receive any help from them for several more years (it's a long list). But a couple of months ago, we got a letter saying they had some funding left to distribute and when they do, they draw names from the waiting list like a lottery to see who can receive this one time only funding. It doesn't affect your status on the waiting list, and it's a use it or lose it kind of thing. It was $2,500!! But it could only be used for accomodations to make a vehicle wheelchair accessible, respite care, or durable and consumable medical supplies. And it couldn't be anything that Medicaid already covers. It also had to all be spent by the end of June.

That pretty much left us with nothing to spend the money on! But then I remembered that the Agency considers diapers and wipes consumable medical supplies. They order them through a home health company. So that's what we chose to get with the funding. Remember, ALL of the money had to be spent by June 30th...our delivery arrived yesterday...

23 cases of Pampers diapers (124 in a case) and 83 tubs of Huggies baby wipes (72 in a tub)!!! Now I just have to figure out where all of it's going!
