We have been looking for a minivan to haul our new family of 4 around. We found one we were interested in today at a nearby used car dealership, so Austin left work a little early so we could go see it. It's in great condition and we were really happy with it, so Austin took it on a test drive while I stayed at the dealership with the girls. (It was pouring down rain and I didn't want to drive a minivan for the first time in that kind of weather!). I was holding Madilynn and walking around the waiting room while Emily played in the stroller. I just happened to look down for some reason, and I saw....Emily's feeding tube from her stomach laying on the floor!!! I spun around to look at Emily, who had her shirt pulled up over her head (laughing of course). And sure enough, there was the hole in her torso where the g-tube "button" is supposed to be! She must have pulled it out, but it didn't seem to bother her one bit!
I called Austin and told him he needed to come back and we were going to need to go straight home. I wasn't worried that the hole would close (we have about 3 hours before that happens) before I could put a new button in. I just couldn't believe that it happened! It's happened only once before, when she was 5 months old. That was before I knew how to change it and maintain it myself, so we had to go to the ER. Fortunately, that's not the case now, since I made those nurses show me what to do! :)
So we did not come home in a minivan today, but it was still an exciting trip! We're going to try and go back tomorrow if Austin can get off work a little early again.
