This weekend was Orlando Kayak Fishing Club's annual kayak swap. It's basically a get together for kayakers (or those interested in becoming one) to test out other kayaks, get ideas for their own, etc. There was also a luau-themed potluck picnic with lots of yummy food. We brought my pineapple upside down cupcakes, and it was very difficult to not eat any the night before. :)
Emily stayed home with Nama, since we were right on the water's edge but there was no place for her to really play in it. We missed having her there with us, but we figured she'd just be cranky and hot! She was a topic of conversation though, since this is the same club that is holding a fishing tournament in the summer with all the proceeds going to Emily!
Madi had lots of fun playing in the sand and burying her fruit snacks in it. :)
When Austin and his friend Paul were ready to take the kayaks on the river, Madi was all set to join them! I spotted her waiting in Austin's kayak, this tiny little pipsqueak in the middle of all these big boys!
I've never been on a kayak before, but it sounded like so much fun to get out on the water and out of the heat, that we decided I would join Austin and Madi, even though the kayak is definitely not meant for three. But Austin paddled us around with minimal complaining like we were his princesses! :)
Reeling in a fish...
When we got back to the cabanas, Austin jumped in the water to cool off. Madi wanted to swim too, but quickly decided the spring water was too cold for her taste!
It was a long hot day, but we had a great time and I finally got to meet so many of the guys that Austin talks about. And Wekiva Island was beautiful!
