Mine started with Madi waking up crying at 6:30 in the morning, which she's done everyday this week. Guess she didn't get the memo that Mother's Day was supposed to be different. :) But Austin was already headed in to her room by the time I heard her. That was a nice change, but made me wonder how he hears her on Mother's Day but not the other 364 days?? Hmmm.
We spent Mother's Day relaxing and hanging out at home, which is our favorite thing to do on Sundays. The girls play in the pool for hours while we sit in patio chairs on the deck, watching them laugh, splash, and blow bubbles in the water. Madi cooled us down with her squirt gun too. :) My mom and Austin's mom both came over for a fried fish dinner. It was nice to eat dinner at a reasonable hour (very unlike us) and have time in the evening left to play!
Once our moms left, we went on a bike ride around the neighborhood. Princess Emily rides in her royal carriage behind Daddy and Madi is on a seat on my bike, pointing out every squirrel and bird she spots. This time we saw a family of sandhill cranes looking for food. The babies were so fuzzy and cute! Madi kept waving and saying, "Hi! Hi! Hi!" and "Eat eat!" The mommy was on one side of the road with a baby, and the daddy on the other side of the road with the other baby. We noticed how any time a car came by or when we rode by, the mommy and daddy cranes would put themselves between the baby and the road. It was so sweet!
It was a great Mother's Day, a great Sunday, and the best gift of all is that Madi is doing so well with her talking, I lost count of how many times I got called "Mama." It's the best sound ever. :)
